Welcome to Tulsa Scoop

I’m a guy from South Tulsa who spent a lot of years staying in his own corner of town. Same few restaurants, same routes, same habits. Then I started Tulsa Scoop, and I started finding out how much I’d been missing.

Some of my favorites so far:

  • Mother Road Market: My go-to spot to hang out and meet friends. With so many vendors, everybody finds something they like.
  • Alpha Grill: One of my favorite places to get BBQ.
  • Jones Coffee: My favorite coffee shop.
  • Tortoise Pizza and Uncle Vinny’s by the Slice: Two pizza places I’ve discovered along the way.
  • The Philbrook Museum: I went for the first time recently and loved it.

And, I have a list a mile long of places I need to try and fun places to go.

Discovering these hidden gems has been fun, but it’s not the most satisfying part. That’s been the people. Since I started Tulsa Scoop, I’ve met restaurant owners, folks who noticed what I was doing and said hello, and regular Tulsans around town. Those conversations have meant more to me than any meal.

That’s what Tulsa Scoop is for. Here’s what’s coming:

  • A local directory to help you find great food by type, neighborhood, and occasion
  • Stories and spotlights on the places and people that make Tulsa feel like home
  • Positive, solutions-minded conversations about the issues that matter here

Our motto says it all: Eat Local, Stay Local.

The directory is still being built, so tell me what I’m missing. What’s the local spot you wish more people knew about? Use the Contact page and choose “Suggest a local spot.” And if you want to know when we launch, hit the “Get notified” button on the homepage.

Thanks for being here at the start.

Howard
